Ir a + infinitive • Use a conjugate form of “ir” with “a” and an “infinitive” to tell what someone is or isn’t going to do.

Ir a + infinitive • ¿Vas a estudiar? – Are you going to study?

• No, voy a descansar. – No, I’m going to rest.

• ¿Van a salir? – Are you all going to go out?

• El estudiante va a estudiar. – The student is going to study.

Day of the week: • Use el before the weekday to say you’re going to do something on a certain day of the week. • ¿Vas a ir de compras el sábado? – No, voy a ir de compras los domingos.

Práctica Put the correct form of ir a + infinitive in the blank. • Él ________________ va a trabajar mucho. (work) • Mi familiar y yo ________________ al cine vamos a ir el sábado. Present tense of –er and -ir • To conjugate a regular –er or –ir verb, you follow the same steps as conjugating –ar verbs. 1. Drop the –er or –ir. 2. Add the appropriate ending.

– To say to drink something, use beber algo.

Tag questions • These are questions that are attached to the end of a sentence. • In English, they’re phrases like: right? aren’t you? • If you expect someone to answer yes, use ¿no? or ¿verdad? • When the expected answer is no, use ¿verdad?

Tag questions - ejemplos • Vienes a la fiesta, ¿no? – You’re coming to the party, aren’t you?

• Sí, voy a ir. – Yes, I’m going to go.

• No vas al partido, ¿verdad? – You’re not going to the game, right?

• No, no voy. – No, I’m not going.

Salir • Use the preposition de after salir to talk about leaving a place. – Salgo de mi casa a las siete. – I leave my house at 7:00.

• Use the preposition de after saber to say how much someone knows about something. – No sé mucho de arte. – I don’t know a lot about arte.
