Biography     

George Washington was the first President of the United States of America. He was born on 22 February 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He was educated at home by his father and his older brother. He got married to Martha Dandridge Custis. He died on 14 December 1799.

Presidency  The

Electoral College elected Washington in 1789.  The 1st United States Congress voted to pay Washington a salary of $25,000 a year.  He was a distinguished general and commander in chief of the colonial armies in the American Revolution.

Combats.  French

and Indian war.  American Revolution, in August 1776, British General William Howe launched a massive naval and land campaign designed to seize New York . Washington won this war.
