Inhibits secretion of gastric juice and motility of stomach

VIP VASOACTIVE INTESTINAL PEPTIDE z

Located in nerves of GIT, autonomic nerves and blood.

Causes secretion of electrolytes and water from intestine.

z

Causes inhibition of secretion of gastric acid

z

Causes relaxation of smooth muscle of intestine.

MOTILIN z

Secreted by stomach ,duodenum and colon

z

Causes contraction of smooth muscle of intestine

NEUROTENSIN z

Secreted by ileum mucosa

z

Stimulated by fatty acids

z

Inhibits GIT motility

GASTRIN RELEASING PEPTIDE (GRP) z

Located in vagal nerve endings

z

Causes release of gastrin from the stomach

SOMATOSTATIN z

Produced by delta cells of pancreas and GIT

z

Inhibits secretion of GIP , VIP , gastrin and secretin

z

Inhibits secretion of gastric acid

z

Inhibits contraction of gall bladder

z

Stimulated by presence of acid in stomach.
