Introduction • Freedom of Press • Freedom to print or publish without governmental interference. • refers to the dissemination of expression of thought, belief or opinion through the medium of the press, without censure.

Situation in Pakistan  Rapid growth of media after 2002.  Media has multiple roles to play.  Pakistan has not attained a position that can be described as "free media".  Freedom House, a respected organization has ranked Pakistan at 61st position.  Reporters Sans Frontiers that monitors press freedom all over the world has placed Pakistan at 150th in its press freedom index.
