CFD charts were generated using MetaTrader 4.0 with price data obtained from Google Finance. Beta numbers are obtained from Reuters.com.

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (TYO:7201)

Beta: 1.41 Nissan seems to be forming a triangle pattern on the daily chart, with the most recent low at ¥606 being one of the triangle’s support point. If the count is right, we are now in progress of the fourth leg which is aiming at ¥665 or the descending trendline which is also the triangle’s top boundary. With the direction evidently up, LONG positions could be established but stop will have to be placed below ¥606. This means, the risk-to-reward ratio will be somewhat 1:1 as the objective will be at ¥665 and the entry would be somewhere around ¥630s or at the middle of the triangle. Alternatively, one can wait until the price goes up towards ¥665 and entered SHORT there with the stop set above 694. Target for this entry would be around ¥610-¥620 depending when the entry will be established. This too, means that the risk-to-reward ratio will be close to 1:1 (and it gets worse as we are heading towards the triangle’s apex). Yet, there’s yet another alternative to the alternatives mentioned above. That is to wait until the fifth leg completed at ¥610-¥620 and enter LONG there with the stop set below ¥606 and this time, the target could be as high as ¥735. This is because the current triangle is a continuation pattern and that the main direction before the triangle began was up. At any rate, it is clear that there are two critical points: one is ¥606, the nearest support of the triangle, and two is the top of the pattern at ¥694. Since the references used are of trendlines, the exact point of the next touch points with the two trendlines are totally dependent on when each of the trendlines is reached. In this case, the approximate upper touch point is around ¥665-¥655, and the lower touch point will be around ¥610-620.

Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Ltd. (HKG:1398)

Beta: 1.08 As Hang Seng index tumbled 400 pips on Thursday, ICBC lost 0.25 cents from the intraday high before it settled the day at 6.62. It crashed below the support at 6.70 and thus confirmed a zigzag down which is now nearing its objective around 6.53. Just below it, we have an ascending trendline which is approximately at 6.50 at the moment, and then 6.35 the crossover between projection and retracement targets, and some more supports such as 6.26, 6.19 and 5.98/6.01. While it is clearly heading south, ICBC is probably going to retrace up a bit towards 6.68, or even 6.75. These two points will be good spots for entering SHORT positions. However, keep in mind that it ought not be above 6.81 because at that point the risk of having the bears flipped will be increasing. The key resistance is however, at 7.02. Assuming that the current fall from 7.02 to 6.56 is wave C, then the beginning of wave C should not be breached. Going beyond 7.02 means the correction had ended and the impulse wave will resume upwards. At the downside, objectives for SHORT positions may be placed at 6.53, 6.35, 6.26, 6.19 and 5.98/6.01. Keep trailing the stop each time a lower support is hit to reduce the risks.

Indofood Sukses Makmur, Tbk. (JSX:INDF)

Beta: 1.34 Falling for three days in a row, INDF is increasingly likely to have ended its attempt to break resistance at 3,300 at the moment. The stock will find many supports, though. The first will be 3,050, then 3,000, 2,975, 2,900, 2,825, and then the critical 2,700. Major supports are also seen at 2,650 and 2,275. Upside we have none other than 3,250 and 3,300 highs. Only beyond 3,300 will the bullishness intensify towards 3,425 and 3,675. The three black crows (rather imperfect, though) signalled more decline to be expected, and this justifies for taking SHORT positions with stop set above 3,300 and target the aforementioned supports. Note that however, Friday is a holiday in Indonesia, so the forecast will be for Monday.

Semen Gresik (Persero), Tbk. (JSX:SMGR)

Beta: 0.80 As SMGR managed to break through 7,050 on Thursday, the outlook now turns rather bearish with the focus on the support at 6,750 where a projection level and two retracement levels intertwined. While it’s not going to be easy to break it, successful attempt should put the next support on the line: 6,100 which is also the previous swing low as well as the 38.2% retracement level. Upside, prior swing low at 7,300 and recent swing high at 7,550 will be the first two resistance points before this year’s high at 7,800. If Thursday’s low is still holding when the stock rallies past 7,800, more targets are seen at 7,950, 8,600, and 9,650. These three resistances will expire once the low at 6,900 is broken. For now, look to short while below 7,550 with stop set above 7,800 at the most. Aim for 6,750 and 6,100.
