Easy Mode & Full Featured Mode There are 2 modes in Filmora Video Editor Windows version to create videos. After you launch Filmora Video Editor, you can see it. First, choose to create the video in 4:3 or in 16:9. Then choose the mode you’re going to edit your videos with. Easy Mode: this mode helps you create a story with less editing: import video(s) > select a theme > choose the background music or import your own song > preview the story > export the story. Full Feature Mode: all the editing features and effects are all in this mode. If you want to make a professional video or fantastic video, you’re supposed to try this mode. The following part of this guide is about how to edit videos in Full Feature Mode.

How to Import Existing Files to Filmora Video Editor

There are actually 3 ways to import media files, including photos, videos and audio files, to Filmora Video Editor. 1st way: Click the "Import Media Files Here" on the left side of the main window to browse media files on your computer and import them to the software. 2nd way: Drag and drop media files directly to the software; 3rd way: Click the "IMPORT" button in the upper part of the software, then select "Import Media Files" or "Import a Media Folder".

How to Import Media Files from Camcorders, Cameras, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, etc. Click the "Import" button on the top of the software to reveal the drop-down list > select the source from where you’ll import media files. *If you need to import files from camcorders, cameras and other smartphones, please connect your device with your computer first. *If you want to import media files from Facebook, Flickr and Instagram, click the corresponding option and enter your account information.

How to Record Videos via the Built-in Webcam Filmora Video Editor allows you to record videos of yourself via the built-in Webcam. Click the camera icon in Media Library > select "Record from Webcam" > in the next pop-up, click "capture" to begin. After the recording, you can preview the video.

How to Record Voiceover Just like videos, you can also record voiceover via Filmora Video Editor. Click the microphone icon above the timeline. And then in the prompt, click the microphone icon to record voiceover. After the recording, the voiceover audio track will be displayed both in the Media Library and in Timeline.

How to Record PC Screen Filmora Video Editor is able to record the screen of your computer, which means it will help you record your love video games or any software running on the computer. Click the camcorder icon on the top of the window in Media Library > in the drop-down list, select "Record PC Screen" > then click the red "REC" to begin the recording. Click the Settings gear icon, you can set up your preferences for the recorded video.

How to Take Snapshots from Videos There is a little camera icon at the lower part of the video preview window. To take snapshots of a video, select the video in the Media Library and play it in the preview window. After then click the camera icon.

How to Stabilize Videos in Filmora Video Editor Filmora Video Editor comes with a new feature: Video Stabilization. It’s a feature designed to improve your video quality. To stabilize a video, you should first import it to the Media Library > right-click on the video in Media Library and select "Video Stabilization".

Specify the section of the video you need to stabilize by dragging the two sliders and click "Apply" to analyze shakes in the selected video clip.

After that, please click the Play button to compare the video quality before and after the stabilization. You are able to adjust the smooth level while previewing. Next, click the Save button to make the stabilization into effect. Note: please note that after stabilization, a copy of the video will be added to the Media Library automatically. You’re supposed to use the new copy, dragging and dropping it to the timeline for further editing.

About Media Library in Filmora Video Editor Media Library is at the upper left side of the window. It contains all the media files, including these you have imported, sample colors and sample videos. My Album: by default, an album is built when you import media files from your computer. There are 2 icons: add album and delete album. For sure, you can click it to build a new album or delete an album.

Sample Colors: it can be used as transition, intro or credit for a video. There are 13 sample colors you can make use of.

Sample video: there is 1 sample video for "Countdown". It can be merged to your own videos.

Note: Media Library is only a place to store all your media files, you can’t edit them here. To edit any of them, please drag and drop it to the timeline and do the editing in the timeline.

How to Create, Save and Open a Project You might have noticed that after clicking the "Create New Movie", you’ll be led to the main window of Filmora Video Editor. When editing a video, a project is created automatically. A project file is not a video. It is a file with extension, .ive. It doesn’t contain the media files, but memorizes what kind of editing you have applied to the video. You can’t open it with any other media player, but Filmora Video Editor. The project file can be reopened and edited with Filmora Video Editor again. Create a project: when you launch Filmora Video Editor and choose a mode to start, a project is created. If you want to create a new project with the software being launched, click the third icon at the upper right of the software > select "New" > select 16:9 or 4:3. After you creating a new project, the media files you have imported to the Media Library will be deleted. You have to re-import them again. Save a Project: click on third icon on the top of in Filmora Video Editor main window, choose "Save" or "Save As". The option "Save" will save this project to the default folder. If you click "Save As", then you’re supposed to set up a new destination to save the project. Open a Project: after launching Filmora Video Editor, you can open an existing project by clicking the third icon and choose "Open Project" or "Open Recent".

How to Use Scene Detection To make it easy to edit a large section of a video, you’re supposed to use the "scene detection" for this software to display the video in timeline according to its scenes. Right-click the video in the Media Library and select "Scene Detection", then you can see that the video is automatically added to the timeline scene by scene.

How to Trim A Video Drag and drop the video to timeline. Move the cursor at the beginning or end of the video clip until you see the pointer. After then move forward or backward the pointer to trim the beginning or end part of the video.

How to Cut a Middle Section of a Video To cut a video section, you should firstly make it an independent section. Move the cursor to the beginning and end of the video section you want to cut and click the scissors icon to separate it from the original video clip. After then, right-click on the video and select "Delete".

How to Combine Video Clips and Photos into a Single Video Combing videos and photos into a single file is simple: drag and drop video clips and photos to timeline in order. When you export them, they will become a single video.

How to Split a large Video into Several Sections Move the cursor to the position of a video you want to split and click the scissors icon or right-click on the video and select "Split".

How to Crop a Video Drop the video in timeline and either click on the "Crop" button above the timeline or double-click on the video to select the crop option. A new window will be opened.

In the new window, check the frame you for the video: 16:9 or 4:3, then drag the frame over the video to adjust it. And another option is to select "Manually" and adjust the frame freely.

How to Rotate a Video Double-click the video clip in the timeline or click the rotation icon above timeline to enable the rotation window. In the new prompt, click the one of the two options are to rotate the video in clockwise or anti clockwise direction until it is in the right orientation.

How to Adjust Brightness, Contrast, Hue and Saturation for the Video Double-click the video clip in timeline or the rotation icon above timeline to enable the Video Inspector window. From there, you can see you’re able to adjust the video brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and speed.

How to Detach and Mute Audio Track and Adjust Its Volume Detach audio: Right-click on the video in the timeline and select the option "Audio Detach". Mute video:Right-click on the video in the timeline and select "Mute". Split or Trim Audio: After you detach the audio, it will be added to timeline automatically. And then you can move cursor at the begging or end of the audio track to trim it.

Adjust Audio Volume: Double-click on the video in the timeline to enable the Video Inspector window first > click the Audio tab to switch to the Audio Inspector. From there, you can adjust the audio volume.

How to Change the Duration of an Image To change the duration of an image in timeline, move the cursor to the beginning or end of the image, when the pointer appears, either move forward or backward.

How to Add and Delete Filters and Overlays to Videos To apply a filter or overlay effect, select a filter or overlay effect in the left side window, drag and drop it to the timeline where filters and overlays should be. To adjust the duration of the effect, more the cursor forward and backward until it is in the place. Deleting a filter or overlay effect: right- click on the filter or overlay in timeline and select "Delete".

How to Apply Picture-in-Picture (PIP) Picture-in-picture means you lay two or more videos, photos on the original video. And the frame will display all these videos and photos simultaneously. *To overlay your own videos or images with the videos in timeline: in the Media Library, right click the video or photo and select "Add to PIP".

*To overlay the motion graphics in Filmora Video Editor with the videos in timeline: click the motion graphics icon in the left sidebar. Drag and drop it to timeline.

Double-click the the overlayed photo or video in the timeline will enable the pip motion and audio setting up window.From there, you can set up the movement track and audio for the overlayed photo or video. There is an "Advanced" button, clicking it you can set up the shape for the overlayed photo or video.

After adding either a photo or a video to timeline for picture-in-picture effect, you should move the end or beginning of the image or video to set up its duration. In the preview windows, drag the frame of the video or image to adjust its size and position.

How to Add Transitions There are almost 100 types of transitions available for you to choose from. Click the transition icon in the left side of Filmora Video Editor to reveal all transitions. From there, choose the transition you need, drag and drop it to timeline, between 2 video clips.

Besides transitions, you can also use sample colors and sample videos as transitions, adding to the beginning, end of a video or between two videos.

How to Add Music to Videos Filmora Video Editor There is a Music Library in Filmora Video Editor. Clicking it then you’ll see there are multiple music styles. There are 30+ best royalty-free songs to use as background music for your videos!

How to Play Video in Reverse In timeline, double-click the video or click the rotate icon above the timeline to enable the "Video Inspector" window. At the bottom of the window, check the option "Play video clip in reverse" and click "OK". In the preview window, click the play button to preview the video.

How to Add Text/Titles to Videos To add text or titles to videos, click the T (TEXT/CREADIT) icon above the timeline to choose the adorable one. Drag and drop it to the timeline. And you can also use the trimming video method to adjust the duration and position of the text you have added to the video.

Double-click on the text you added to timeline to enable its settings up window. From there, you can select the preset color and font for the text. Or click the "Customize" button to design a text type for you video. After then, you can drag frame in the preview window to adjust the position of the text appears in the video.

How to Add, Trim and Delete Background Music to a video Clicking the Music icon above the timeline, you’ll see there are dozens of songs available in the Music Library. Double-click a song in the music library to listen to it. To use it, choose it in the Music Library, drag and drop it to timeline "background music" area. You can also import your love songs to the Media Library for background music as well.

To trim a song to fit on the video, slide the cursor at the beginning or end of the song, when the pointer becomes a cross, forward or backward the cursor. To delete a section of a song, move the cursor to the part (beginning of the section you want to delete) to click the scissors icon > move the cursor to the part (end of the section you want to delete) to click the scissors icon. See? This is the section you want to delete. Right-click on it and select "Delete". It’s done and done.

How to Use Green Screen Click the "Import Media Files Here" to import the video or photo with the green screen background. After then, right-click on the video or photo in the Media Library and select "Add to PIP". In the timeline, right-click on the video or photo you have added to the PIP area in timeline and select "Green Screen".

In the new pop-up window, check "Green Screen" and pick the green color from the window in the right side. And then slide the cursor for "Intensity" until you see the original video and the video or photo are overlayed perfectly.

In the same window, you’re able to adjust the border, mask as well as set up the motion of the video or photo once with green screen. And lastly, when you get back to the main window of Filmora Video Editor, drag the frame above the video to adjust its position and preview it by clicking the play button.

How to Use the Split Screen Click the "Split Screen" icon above the timeline of the software and choose your favorite template.

In the prompt window, drag and drop the videos to fill in the empty part of the screen. After then, preview the change in the preview window.

Power Tool There are some special effects in Power Tool, including Tilt-shift, Mosaic, and Faceoff. First, click the Power Tool icon above the timeline in the main window.

1How to Apply Tilt-Shift Check the "Apply Tilt-Shift to the clip". Now, select the area on the video preview where you want to apply the tilt-shift and click the "OK" button.

2How to Apply Mosaic In Power Tool window, click the Mosaic tab, then Now, it will open the Power tool window, click on "Mosaic". Check "Apply Mosaic to this clip". Check the area where you want to apply the mosaic effect and you can also change the percentage of mosaic effect. Click on "OK" button to confirm the editing.

3How to Apply Faceoff Filmora Video Editor will detect the face(s) in a video automatically. After clicking Face Off tab, then you should check the "Apply Face Off to the clip". Next, select a template, then you can see it is applied to the video.

How to Preview the Video Move the cursor at the beginning of the video in timeline and double-click it to preview.

How to Export the Video to a Needed Format Clicking Export button above the timeline, then you’ll be navigated to a new window. By default, there are 12 formats available for you to choose from. If you’re not content with the parameters for the video, click "Settings" to change it manually.

How to Export the Video for Playing on Devices Filmora Video Editor has some preset options for optimizing videos for different devices such as iPhone and iPad. Click "Devices" in the left side and select a device for which you want to import the video and click on "Export".

How to Share the Video to YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo Filmora Video Editor allows you to upload the video directly to your YouTube channel, Facebook and Vimeo for sharing. You just need to click the option in the left sidebar, then enter your account, select the category of your video, name the video, and select its quality and description. And upload it. Note: If you have any problem of sharing the video directly to YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo, the best option is to saving the video as MP4 format. After then, upload it to the website manually.

How to Burn the Video to DVD Filmora Video Editor allows you to burn the result video to DVD. After clicking "Export", then click "DVD" tab > choose "Burn to DVD". You’re able to save the video as a DVD image file too.

How to Remove Watermark from the Video If you’re using the free trial version of Filmora Video Editor, you’ll see a big watermark on your video after exporting the video. Don’t worry! It happens because it is a free trial version. You can delete the watermark on the video by upgrading to the full feature version of Filmora Video Editor. Step 1.Click the third icon on the top of the main window and select either "Save" or "Save As" to save the current project on your computer. You know, a project file is not the video, but a file that memorizes the videos you’ve imported and what changes you have done to the video. A project file is with the extension .ive. Please keep the project file as well as source files intact. Note: in order to reopen the project the next time for further editing, don’t rename, move, or even delete the source files.

Step 2. Click the third icon and slect "Register" on the top right of the software. In the prompt, click the "Buy Now" button and you’ll be navigated to the purchase page. From there, fill in the form and pay the bill. After then, check your email for the registration code for Filmora Video Editor.

Step 3. In the window, click "Enter Registration Code". After then, copy the registration code from your email and paste them to the registering window. If registered successfully, a message will tell you so.

Step 4. Launch Filmora Video Editor again. Click the third icon and select "Open Recent" or "Open Project" to reopen the project you have saved in step 1 again. And then, click "Export" to export the video, either for computer, device or share on YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo directly.
