BASIC COLOUR ADDITIVE COLOURS The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green, and blue. The main purpose of the RGB color model is for the sensing, representation, and display of images in electronic systems, such as televisions and computers, though it has also been used in conventional photography. Before the electronic age, the RGB color model already had a solid theory behind it, based in human perception of colors.

SUBTRACTIVE COLOURS A subtractive color model explains the mixing of paints, dyes, inks, and natural colorants to create a full range of colors, each caused by subtracting (that is, absorbing) some wavelengths of light and reflecting the others. The color that a surface displays depends on which colors of the electromagnetic spectrum are reflected by it and therefore made visible. ubtractive color systems start with light, presumably white light. Colored inks, paints, or filters between the viewer and the light source or reflective surface subtract wavelengths from the light, giving it color. If the incident light is other than white, our visual mechanisms are able to compensate well, but not perfectly, often giving a flawed impression of the "true" color of the surface.

FAX How to Fax Forward To An E-mail Address without Printing at the Fax:

Installing several types of equipment on the same telephone line may result in problems making and receiving telephone calls, especially ringing when your line is called. The sum of all Ringer Equivalence Numbers of the equipment on your telephone line should be FOUR or less in order to assure proper service from the telephone company.

Facsimilie Adjustmants As of late we have been experiencing problems with MFD's fax functions connected to Broadband routers. On occasion the fault lies with the filter that connects the router and the analogue ports to the phone suppliers RJ11 box on the wall. The filters supplied by the phone company are sometimes of an inferior quality and cost pence compared to good quality ones that cost a few pounds and can be obtained from places like Maplins and are called ADSL Filters. To find out if the filter is at fault remove it from the wall socket and connect the fax lead directly into the wall socket. Carry out normal transmission tests orsee if the dial tone can be obtained by pressing the On-Line button. If the fax can obtain a dial tone, dial outand fails at the handshake stage of communications then the following adjustments can be made (be aware that not all fax switches are identical but this gives a good guide).

Adjustments to fax settings Country Code Enter the service mode and select FAX SP Mode Select SP1 Bit Switches Select SP1-101-016 and check that the country code is 2 for UK (this is shown in binary) so that bit switches and RAM addresses corresponds with BABT reccomendations for this country. Exit out of SP2

NCU Country Setting Now check the country code for NCU setting. Enter SP2-103-001 Shown is (0) and should be 2 which is UK NCU setting. Exit out of SP2

Not all the following adjustments need to be carried out at the same time as you can do a "mix and match"to see if one particular bit switch cures the communication problem. Compression Rates. Whilst in the Fax SP Mode select SP1-104-001Communication switch 00 These bit switches are to change the compression rates: Normal bit switches are 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 0 1 1 0 1 1 1 1 MH/MR/MMR/JBIG compression modes We want less compression so we will change these bit switches to: 76543210 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 0 MH/MR compression modes Use the # key to lock in the changes made. CED/AMSam Transmission FAX SP Mode Select SP-105-002 G3 switch 01 (SP 1-105 = G3 Switch) Default is all "0"'s Change Bit 6 to a 1. This is to eliminate problems with CED/AMSam transmission. Got to Sp1-105-003 G3 switch 02 By changing bit "0" to a "1" the machine is et to T30 standard protocol mode and turns off Ricoh propriety handshake. Modem Rate. Select Sp1-105-004 G3 switch 03 Change bit "2" to a "0" which will disable V8/V34 modem rate if the moden rate is below 14.4kbps. Use the # key to lock the changes made.

Transmission Speeds. Broadband has a tendancy to have problems with high transmission analogy speeds, so to slow the modem speed we need to force the fax to start TX speeds slower than 33.6kbps. Select SP1-105-006 G3 switch 05 Bit switches by default are 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 1 0 = 33,600bps 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 = 9,600bps this will reduce the transmission speed to this rate. Use the # Key to lock in the changes Reception Speeds. Select SP1-105-007 G3 switch 06 This switch will reduce the receive speed to 9600bps by changing the bits to: 00000100 Use the # key to lock the changes made. Exchange Distance Select SP1-105-008 G3 switch 07 If there is a problem with the machine being a long way from the telephone exchange and due to characteristics of the copper cable, resistance/impedance and capacitence, we can try and equalize the cable lenghts. Bits 0 & 1 are for transmission and bits 2 & 3 are for reception so change the bits: Default 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 which will give High cable equalization. Use the # key to lock in the changes

Modem Signal Level To increase the signal level that the modem sends out, we can adjust the NCU parameter setting SP2-103-002 NCU parameter 01. Where the default level is between -12dB and -8dB. The nearer to "0" we get the stronger the signal, so if we set the level to -5dB that would be 7 to 3 dB stronger. To change the non-default figure press the #, input the new amount then lock with #. Fax Dial Out. These has also been times when the fax machine dials out, especially when connected via an internal telephone system, and wrong numbers are called (e.g. prefix 9 does not get an outside line). To overcome this we can slow down the speed at which the digits are dialled and by going into SP2-103-018 and SP2-103-019, the default being 100ms, can be changed to either 150ms or 200ms.
