Malaysia is still the same as ever. BN politicians continue to insist that the country is just as safe as it was in the distant past. It is obvious these clowns have never bothered to count or meet the mounting number of crime victims in the country. BN politicians continue to pursue their own secret agendas to divide the people even after more than a half century of self-rule in order to preserve their current power base. These BN politicians are really untrustworthy, deceitful, and highly conspiratorial. They prefer not to face up to the new challenge issued by the PM to implement '1Malaysia'. Their efforts to stab the new concept in the back are not without results. The recent Chini NS camp fracas is proof that these clowns are still able to influence many citizens. The country has a long way to go before it could boast of having a disciplined and law-abiding citizenry. Many young people in the country today prefer to pursue an easy life even if that aim required them to mix with the wrong crowd and walk the wrong road. School children now, some as young as 13 or 14-years old have mastered the art of force-starting motorbikes. The older ones have graduated to cars. Village mechanics have passed on to them the techniques of dismantling the vehicles. Meanwhile BN politicians like those found inside the M.O.I. have continued to clung fiercely to the old ways. They are fond of propagating certain words or speeches or statements in order to emphasise the subtle differences found among the people. Other BN politicians continue to relentlessly utter verbal reminders on the need to foster 'own community unity', as if the country was now barrelling headlong towards national implosion. Perhaps inside their crooked minds, they were fully convinced that, come tomorrow, Malaysia would just be another (former) Yugoslavia. So, it would be better to bang the drums or cymbals now. How disgusting. Foreign investors are most reluctant to come here. Past experience had taught them Malaysian youths, especially the male workers, were not known for their productivity or their creativity. Instead they were the kind known for 'first to the feast and last to the elbow grease'. Imported labour from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam & other countries has constricted the labour market for local youths and it has forced them to orientate themselves to the path of crime. Lacking critical skills, spiritual fortitude and moral fibre, they prefer to steal, mug and even participate in robbing sprees. The NS fracas at the Chini camp was no isolated incident. More than 200 such cases have been recorded over the past 3 years. As usual, it started with insults, name-calling

and verbal abuse and then on to fisticuffs. I myself have experienced such verbal abuse first-hand; they belonging to another community uttered: 'makan babi'. I did not respond as it would not have benefitted me. Yet, we have the M.O.I. gayly using the term 'babi' for the current flu bug. Very repulsive indeed. The NS programme has chalked up quite a number of deaths among the trainees over the years. A RM30k compensation is surely chicken feed for a young person's life. Adding insult to injury is the fact that it is a compulsory 3month sojourn for those whose names were selected despite insistent propaganda that it was very 'extremely popular'. Failure to attend could break your future for good. The BN politicians should spare a moment's thought to the prospect of staying in an unfamiliar place away from your family with a group of strangers for 3 long months. The associated emotional and mental stress might be too much for some. If something is so good and so popular, why must it be made compulsory ? Why must people attend the progamme under duress ? The suspicion is that the NS programme is being used as a propaganda tool solely for the benefit of the ruling class. Nothing more to it. If the authorities really want to do something useful, they should get those youths to serve as part-time police volunteers attached to a local police base instead. In our residential area, dubious characters roam around late at night and into the early hours of the morning on motorbikes but no policeman is ever around. Once when I entered the local station around 6 am to make a report, a policewoman was on duty at the desk. Two men not in uniform were standing outside. But one man in full uniform was sleeping inside the office. No wonder the current situation is so unsatisfactory. Surely this scene must be a familiar one all over the country. Our BN politicians should cut the crap and listen to the voice of the public. Otherwise the public should continue to hold onto their Bt Gantangs for the foreseeable future. One more Bt Gantang for Manek Urai please !!!!
