With surprising speed, however, the row over the Nash's baby abated. It was Lisa Nash who summarised the argument most succinctly. "We wanted a healthy child. And it doesn't hurt him to save [Molly's] life." Who could disagree with that? There were several key features of the Nash case. First, the second child was clearly wanted to complete the family. Second, nothing invasive was done to it – the umbilical cord with its blood would otherwise have been throw away. Third, the primary aim of undergoing IVF was genetic screening to ensure that Adam did not inherit the same genetic disorder as his sister. The tissue typing was a bonus to ensure he could help his sister.
