Your Candidates for Town Council Wednesday October 28 is Election Day and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the residents of Eastend to take this opportunity to vote in the Council and School Division elections taking place that day. This is a critical time for our community, we need strong representation as we deal with preserving services while we endeavor to grow. I have said on many occasions that decisions are made by the people who show up so make sure that your voice is heard. See you at the polls! Mayor Scott Morvik The candidates for Town Council shared their thoughts with the Edge about why they feel it is important to them to serve on the Council during the next three years. JK Bryce Busse—(returning Councilor) My first three years was a learning experience. The three years to come will see the continuation of expansion here which is important Eastend. I have a personal commitment as part of the community and want to fulfill a public duty to keep improving our town. Deb Giverhaug—I feel all age groups should be involved in the Town Council as well as people new to the community, retirees and residents. Fresh blood brings fresh viewpoints. Eastend has so much to offer and we must keep busy to keep our school and businesses. Kendal McCuaig—(returning Councilor) I’ve served for some time on the Council and believe with the new development taking place that I must complete my commitment to the community. These are critical times for us all and I feel my experience will be valuable.

Charles Michel—(returning Councilor) I love this town and the people. Attracting more people will expand the tax base and provide support for infrastructure. There is much in the Eastend community to appeal to families to come and stay here. We must emphasize our school, kids and growth potential.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October:

Stephanie Morris—Eastend is on the verge of being a prosperous community. We all want to see it flourish. I am young and want to enjoy opportunity here as well as see that same opportunity offered to other young families as an incentive to move here.

$1 from every retail purchase will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Dennis Webster—(returning Councilor) Over the last three years we have worked hard to make headway and are beginning to see results. We are now fiscally able to grow without huge tax increases. The next three years are crucial for our community. New zoning bylaws are needed, especially for the new development area, to appeal to new residents. The new Council will have the responsibility of implementing these changes.

Please come in and see our great selection of hair products as well as blow dryers, flat irons and make up.

Cameron Vansandt—I see community involvement as part of my responsibility as a citizen in Eastend. I was raised here and now have a young family. I want to do my part to encourage the town in the right direction.

Evelyn Sanke—could not be reached for comment by Press deadline.

Remembrance Day Service will be held

October 28th is Election Day

In the Eastend School gymnasium on Monday, November 2nd at 1 pm.

My name is Gerry Egland and on Oct. 28th I would like to ask for your support in the election for Division 6 of the Chinook School Division. I have been a lifelong farmer on the family farm about halfway between Eastend and Frontier. I have three grandchildren currently attending school in the Chinook School division and two more who will attend school in the next few years. I bring with me experience from the Eastend Union Hospital Board, the Town Council of Eastend and from being a founding member of the Southwest Terminal. As I look to another generation being on our farm it is Critical that we preserve all the services we have here in the southwest.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

IF I AM ELECTED I WILL

Defend our schools

Represent the people of Division 6 who elected me
