Digital Portfolios – Creating a PowerPoint Template INTRODUCTION: Before starting you need decide the number of slides and what subject areas will head each slide. You may want the children to have a Literacy slide and then a further break down of that slide into sub slides of Writing, Reading, Handwriting, Visual Language and any other area you decide upon. 1.

Make the first slide a blank presentation. * View - Toolbars - Task Pane. * Click on task pane drop down. * Click the blank slide under the contents layout heading. * Save to a new folder called” My Digital Portfolio” or an appropriate name you decide.

Add the number of identical slides. * Insert – Duplicate slide as many times as required. Duplicate Slide

Format background colour. * Format – Background. * On background window click the drop down box. * Choose colour or fill effects. * Once selected go Apply to All.

Insert Heading using WordArt or Text Box.

Insert Shape with headings for other slide. (maths, PE, art etc.)

* Click Auto Shapes and select shape. * Right click – Add Text * Complete a shape and text for each heading.

* Put headings on every slide. One curriculum area per slide. * As many slides and headings as required.

* Right click on border of shape. * Click Action Settings. * Hyperlink to.

* Drag slide bar down until you find the word “Slide”. * Click on “Slide”

* Select which slide corresponds with the shape heading that you selected. * Click ok, ok – Heading is now linked to the slide you selected. * Repeat for all heading shapes on slide one.

* Select slide 2. * Auto Shapes – Action Buttons. * Select home button.

* Click and drag and draw button to corner of slide. * Action Settings automatically comes up with a hyperlink to first

slide. * Click OK, link is automatically put in.

* Click on button then copy. * Click on slide 3. * Click Paste. Button is automatically pasted with link to home

slide. * Repeat paste for every slide.

12. To insert other files of work like a story saved on a word document. * Make sure a copy of whichever file you want to link to is saved in the “My Digital Folder” you created as a new folder. Everything that you link to needs a copy saved in this file first.
