WORKSHOP 7 DRAPING WITH A SPLIT

WS7-1

● Problem Description ● This workshop introduces the concept of creating a split, or cut, in a ply to reduce the shearing that it might undergo while being draped on a mould. ● First, the geometry is created and meshed by running a session file. ● Lamina/plies are created in MSC.Laminate Modeler for two material property sets. The materials are of type scissor or slide. ● Because the surfaces are highly curved a split is introduced in one of the plies. This shows how to do this important procedure. It is important because any surface, no matter how complex its shape, can be draped if splits are introduced in the draping material/fabric. ● Software Version ● Patran 2008 r2 for MD Nastran ● Files Required ● Drapewithsplit.ses ● Materials.ses PAT325, Workshop 7, July 2009 Copyright 2008 MSC.Software Corporation
