market response and the established demand and their future projections. As more and more regions coming under the ‘mobile umbrella’, rural parts of India are no different. The mobile penetration is increasing in this fastest growing telecom market with saturation in the urban market;

growth in the Indian mobile market will be driven by an increased focus on the rural market. Mobile has fast moved from a class service to a mass service for the common man – fuelled by continuously falling tariffs and increased coverage. According to a new research report "Emerging Rural Mobile Market in India", mobile handset’s sales in Indian rural market is expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 17% during 2009-2012 to exceed 75 Million Units by 2012.

The number of telephone subscribers in India increased to 509.03 Million at the end of September-09 from 494.07 Million in August-2009, thereby registering a growth rate of 3.03%. With this, the overall Tele-density in India reaches 43.50. The

of

million
telephones by the end of 2010 has been achieved by September 2009. The total number of PCOs in the country as on 31st March 2008 was 61,85,904. The rural tele-density at the end of March 2008 was 9.20 as compared to 5.80 ending March 2007. The number of mobile subscribers in rural areas is growing day-by-day. Few reasons behind this are as follows:
Figure 3: Better prices on the move
•
Decline in Tariffs: ➢ Local call tariff for mobile @ Rs. 15.00 is now less than Rs. 0.50 ➢
One minute STD call between Delhi and Mumbai at the rate of Rs.37.00 now cost Re. 0.60 i.e. at the rate of local call
➢
ISD call to American continent @ Rs. 75.00 now costs less than Rs. 7.00
Public Call Offices The number of public call offices (PCOs) in the country as on 31st March, 2008 stood at 6.19 million. During the year 2007-08, 6.39 lakhs PCOs were added, recording an annual growth rate of 11.51%. The Project & Location Page | 5
The project is being set up in the name & style of “Aanchal Utkarsh Telecom”. The proposed location is At – Nai Bazar P.S. – Khizersarai Dist – Gaya
The Applicant The applicant of this unit is Mr. Purushottam Kumar. The applicant is a physically challenged person but has the will power to do something himself and after hearing about this scheme, he has decided to take the financial help of this state government’s scheme. The applicant belongs to a low income family. He has his own shop at Nai Bazar which is just 1 km from his village Chhotiya. The applicant has done Matriculation in the year 2001 but due to financial problems, he was unable to continue higher studies.

Due to ever increasing demand in mobile telephony; he is unable to fill-up the Demand-Supply gap. due to shortage of fund, the profit is very little in amount. If the required loan is sanctioned by “Chief Minister Disable Persons Selfemployment Loan Program”, he will be able to start a small business for his better future.
