Doxycycline Hyclate possesses the bacteriostatic action, whose mechanism consists in the inhibition of the biosynthesis of proteins at the ribosomal level. They are highly sensitive to Doxycycline Hyclate: the gram-positive microorganisms of the Staphylococci of spp. (including the Staphylococci of aureus, Staphylococcus of epidermidis), Streptococcus of spp. (including Streptococcus of pneumoniae), Clostridium of spp., Listeria of spp. ; and the gram-negative microorganisms: Neisseria of meningitidis, Haemophilus of influenzae, Klebsiella of spp., E. coli, Shigella of spp., Enterobacter, Salmonella of spp., Pasteurella of spp., Bacteroides of spp., Treponema of spp. (including the strains, resistant to other antibiotics, for example to contemporary penicillins and cephalosporins). Are most sensitive Haemophilus of influenzae (91 - 96%) and intracellular pathogens. Doxycycline Hyclate is active with respect to the majority of the agents of the dangerous infectious diseases: plague, tularemia, anthrax, brucella, cholera vibrio, rickettsia, agents sap agents of ornithosis, psittacosis, trachoma, venereal granuloma). It does not act on the majority of the strains of Proteus, of Bacillus pyocyaneus; fungi.

To a lesser degree how other antibiotics of a tetracycline number, it suppresses intestinal flora, is differed from them in terms of more complete suction and larger duration of action. According to the degree of the antibacterial activity of Doxycycline it exceeds natural tetracycline. In contrast to tetracycline and oxytetracycline, it possesses the higher therapeutic effectiveness, which is appeared during the treatment 10 times by smaller doses, and by more long-term effect. There is a cross stability to other tetracycline, and also to penicillins.
