HOW-TO GUIDELINES IMPORTING A DOOR STYLE FROM THE MHTN STYLES DRAWING 1. Open the Style Manager dialog box. Format>Style Manager.
2. From the File menu, select Open or select the Open button. Browse to and open the MHTN Door Styles.dwg. It is found on J:\CAD Resource\ACAD2006\Templates. 3. The file should now be open in the Style manager and not in AutoCAD itself. Expand the list of Styles by selecting the plus (+) sign next to the file name.
4. Select the Style you want to import from the right side of the Dialog box. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the file to the drawing name on the left side of the dialog box that you wish to insert the Style into.
5. The new Door Style will now be in your drawing and available to use.

CREATING A NEW DOOR STYLE FROM AN EXISTING STYLE 1. Open the Style Manager dialog box. Format>Style Manager. 2. Highlight an existing style, right click and select Copy from the menu.
3. Right click and select Paste from the Menu
4. The new style will have the same name as the copied one but will have a number in parenthesis on the end. (Example: Single (2)).
5. Rename the new style by right clicking on it and selecting Rename from the menu.
HOW-TO GUIDELINES CHANGING A DOOR STYLE FRAME SIZE 1. Frame size is controlled by the Door Style. All doors of one Style will have the same Frame Dimension. 2. Open the Style Manager dialog box. Format>Style Manager.
3. Double click on the Style you wish to edit. In the Door Style Properties dialog box select the Dimensions Tab. Frame size is changed with the A and B dimensions shown below.
4. The Frame Dimension B-Depth is extracted from the Door Object and inserted into the Door Schedule. Care must be taken with the dimensioning of Wood Door Frames as this door style matches the wall thickness that the door is placed in. Provide door jamb and head details. 5. Custom frame sizes are available for Metal Door Frames, coordinate with Specifications.

TURNING ON A THRESHOLD FOR A DOOR STYLE There are door styles in the MHTN Door Styles that are noted as Exterior type, these styles have a threshold shown. To turn the Threshold on with other style: 1. Open the Style Manager dialog box. Format>Style Manager.
2. Double click the Style you wish to edit. In the Door Styles Properties dialog box select the Display Props Tab. Select the Threshold Plan Display Representations and select the Edit Display Properties button.
3. The first tab allows you to turn on either Threshold A or B or both. The Threshold A is always on the same side as the door swing.
4. The second tab allows you to set dimensions for the Threshold. The A and B dimensions are associated with Threshold A, the C and D dimensions are associated with Threshold B.

PLACING A DOOR TAG 1. Make sure all your doors are Object Doors, not an AutoCAD block. In order for the door to appear on the schedule as anything other than “?” you must place a tag on the door. 2. Select the Documentation Tool Palette and locate the Door Tag and Door Tag Rotated.
3. Drag and Drop the Door Tag from the Tool Palette (Using the left mouse button hold on to the symbol, release the mouse button when your cursor is in the drawing area) Pick the Door you need to tag, place the tag and hit Enter.
4. Fill out the Edit Property Sets Data Dialog Box and select OK. If you do not have all the information to fill out the box, you will need to either edit the data in the Door Schedule or erase the tag, insert a new one and complete the information. The data for the Schedule is held in the door object, not the tag or schedule itself.

GENERATING A DOOR SCHEDULE IN A FLOOR PLAN MODEL FILE 1.
Select Document > Scheduling > Add Schedule Table from the Pull Down Menus.
2. In the Properties Dialog box change the settings as shown below. When finished, hit Enter and select all the doors in the drawing.

After selecting the door objects you will be prompted to select the Upper Left Corner of the table. Select a location on the drawing away from any building areas. When prompted for the Lower Right Corner hit Return to ensure the correct text height.

Rows in Door Schedules that are filled with question marks (?) are doors that have not been tagged, possibly existing doors, demolition doors or toilet partition doors.

By modifying the Layer Wild card for the Schedule (see #2 above) you can define what layers are included in the schedule. By creating additional layers for doors to identify building areas, floors, types, etc., you can move specific doors to layers that can be used to break door schedules up as required by the Project.

GENERATING A DOOR SCHEDULE IN A PLOT SHEET 1.
In the Plot sheet, select Document > Scheduling > Add Schedule Table from the Pull Down Menus.

3. Hit Enter and you will see the Schedule start to appear. Place the Upper left corner and hit Enter to force the text in the schedule to be the correct size. 4. After the blank Schedule is in place, click on it and go the Properties dialog box and make the following changes:

In the Properties box, move the slider to the bottom of the above shown information.
Change the Schedule external drawing to ‘Yes’, the dialog box will shift back to the top of the information. Move the slider back to the same area and it will now appear as this:
Select the ‘External drawing’ *NONE* and it will turn into a drop down box that will have ‘Browse’ at the bottom. Select browse and navigate to the floor plan you need to Schedule.
6. After selecting your floor plan, you will return to the Plot sheet file and the Schedule should still be selected. Right click and select ‘Update Schedule Table’. Your floor plan doors should now appear in the schedule. 7. You may need to fine tune which door are shown by modifying the Layer Wildcard in the Properties box to select only one area or type. 8. Whenever you modify your floor plan, the plot sheet schedule should make your updated. If it does not, you need to make the changes shown in step #4 above. You can’t change a schedule that has already been created, the items will be greyed out. You will need to erase the schedule and start over.

EDITING DOOR SCHEDULE CELLS 1.
Open the floor plan that you need to make changes to it’s door schedule. If there is not a schedule in the floor plan, see the How-to guides section on creating one.

Select the schedule, right click, from the menu select ‘Edit Table Cell’

Select the cell to edit. If you want to change an entire column of values, select the column header.

3. Changes made through the Edit Table Cell are automatically made on the door object itself where the information is actually stored. Any items listed in the Edit Referenced Property Set Data dialog box with the yellow ‘lightning bolt” are changed on the door itself through the Door Style.
