Sociology Karl Emil Maxmillian “Max” Weber
Max Weber is one of the founding thinkers of sociology and died at the age of 56. He became one of the most important sociologists in the history and also because of his thesis “Protestant Ethic” and was also known for his theory of “Sociology of Religion” We picked Maxmillian Weber in the field of sociology because of this: his works most consists of sociology of religion and government. We all know well that religion and government are two things that shouldn’t be placed in one glass. It will be chaotic. Religion is a taboo to tackle while government is too complex and complicated. Maxmillian caught our interest because of this. He argued that religion was the primary reason that the fdifferent ways of culture orient and occident have developed. He said that because humanity chased the Gods away, our world is devoid of them and was afraid that the humankind will be trapped in a soulless world. While arguing over religion, he also served the German Armistice Commission as a consultant at the Treaty of Versailles and argued over an article which later on, has been used by Adolf Hitler to declare martial law and dictatorial power. It was also ironic that Maxmillian advocated democracy while he favored over article 48 and also for despising the anti-nationalist stance of Marx, one of the founding thinkers of sociology along with Vilfredo Pareto and Emile Durkheim. Going back, Maxmillian’s works played a very big role in the sociology world. It started the antipositivistic revolution in social sciences which stressed the difference between social and natural sciences due to human social actions. It is also quite interesting that Maxmillian wanted to know the reasons behind for the different development paths of cultures of the Orient and Occident and was later on analyzed that the Protestants had a big impact on this. For us, Karl Emil Maxmillian Weber is an interesting person to write about. For the fact that he favored an article which helped Adolf Hitler gain power over his country? That’s one. But the thing that really impressed us is the reality behind the “Sociology of Religion”. That religion affects how humanity stands in this world. That maybe, just maybe, without the Gods, this world will come crumbling down alongside humanity.
