Digit Fidgets (from my first book where the pages are not numbered) Notice there are no numbers Upon the pages of this book, To find the one you want to read You'll just have to look. I'm tired of all the digits, They're cold and all the same, Someday if this continues. We won't even have a name. We'll have no identity Less than we have now, A number in a computer That will tell us how. Tell us how to live and think, What we can't do and can, Numbers and machines will be The downfall of man. The most useless number? It is the number one; It starts the day we're born And ends the day life's done. So if you need numbers To get you through the day, You may as well close this book And put it away. Del “Abe” Jones 80s
