Desktop Publishing- Definitions Portrait: description of a format which is deeper than it is wide. Landscape: description of a format which is wider than it is deep. Call out: a call out is a label used to identify parts of an illustration. Drop Caps: a large initial letter at the start of the text that drops into the line or lines of text below. Footers: Displayed and printed in the margin at the bottom of a page. Text wrap: A term used in page layout software that refers to the way lines of text can be shaped to follow the edge of a graphic. Headers: Displayed and printed in the margin at the top of a page. Column text: Text layered in columns. Cropping: The process of removing an unnecessary portion of a picture, illustration, or photograph. Resizing: To change the horizontal and/or vertical dimensions of an image.
