A BOLD NEW WORLD FOR THE MENTALLY ILL A DECLARATION OF EQUALITY AND PARITY When in the drama of human events it becomes necessary for the mentally ill who have been wrongly labeled, emotionally isolated, unknowingly victimized, and senselessly stigmatized, must come fourth to claim their overdue justice, equality, parity from all, because of the following reasons. These mentally ill persons have endured the derisive ridiculing, the guilt driven shame, the contemptible scorn, the virtriolic barbs, the improper advances, the discriminatory and prejudicial attitudes, and prevailing ethos for too long. Therefore, it is necessary to dissolve these social wrongs that blind us into artificial, inaccurate, scientifically baseless, inane, anachronistic, inhumane categories, illegitimate profiles, and unjust punitive actions. We must be able to clarify misconceptions, redress legitimate legal complaints, secure proper and human medical treatment, as well as the the latest in scientific advances for all without limitations. It is clear now that because of centuries of stigma born of ignorance and misplaced fear, that we have not been allowed to secure these rights and benefits. In fact, nations have acted destructively and callously towards these rights. It is now obligatory to alter the attitude towards us. It is irrefutable that the very phrase “mentally ill” is a defacto slur against us. Recent discoveries have proven that what is commonly called Mental illness is actually various brain disorders involving specific loci and neurochemical processes in the brain, enteric and central nervous systems. Therefore, we petition all peoples and nations for redress of these grievances and wrongful policies.
