Upland Hills CSA Survey

As a member of the Upland Hills community, we welcome your feedback on this natural step in the development of our sustainable village.

What is a CSA? A “Farm with a Face”, Community Supported Agriculture is a way for people to grow food, nurture the land, and reconnect with one another. This vision beautifully complements the mission and spirit of Knight Webster and that of our supporting organizations. CSA’s began in the early 1960s in Germany, Switzerland, and Japan as a response to concerns about food safety and the urbanization of agricultural land. The first CSA came to the US in 1984, with estimates of 1,300 to 3,000 CSA’s currently in North America. Visit [email protected] for more info or email [email protected]. With the inspiration of this year’s school theme, The Learning Community, members of our faculty along with present and former parents and individuals from Upland Hills Farm and Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center have started the beginning steps to creating a sustainable community farm. With the commitment of Les Roggenbuck of East River Organic Farm to be our lead farmer and the blessing of Steve and Leslie Webster of Upland Hills Farm along with many other organizations and University support we are ready to open this opportunity to you. There are many inspiring ideas being considered at this planning stage, especially as we apply for grant money to aid in the ongoing development of a community farm. Some examples are using the farm as an “incubator” for teaching about sustainable growing practices, year-round farming, and educational outreach. We wanted to make you aware of the concept, and see what kind of interest you may have. Please answer the following questions to help guide this “ground-breaking” endeavor: Your Name & E-mail (optional): ___________________________________________
