ActivStudio Flipchart Activity: Create & Display Sentences or Questions While Hiding Another to Reveal Answer What is ActivStudio?

How can I use the skill explained below? What should I know first? How does this benefit my teaching/students?

ActivStudio is the software that runs your interactive Promethean whiteboard. You can use the software to create presentations, or to display and interact with documents, such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint shows. Display an incorrect sentence with a corrected one hidden under a moveable box; display a question with the answer written under a moveable box. You will need to open ActivStudio software on your laptop, create a simple Flipchart, and save it to your flashdrive. 9 Addresses differentiated learning 9 Promotes student participation

HOW TO BEGIN 1) Open the ActivStudio PE software from the icon on your desktop. The main toolbox for the ActivStudio software will appear. 2) To make corrections, use the undo button

3) Click on the icon for a new Flipchart. It’s #2 on the illustration below.

4) Tap your Activpen (stylus pen) on the “T” icon on the toolbar to change to the textbox tools. 5) Tap the Activpen on the blank Flipchart page. A Text Edit Toolbox will appear.

6) You can change the size, color, and style of the font from the Text Edit Toolbox. Make sure there is no checkmark in the box for background if you want the text box to be white. 7) Begin typing your text. It will appear on the Flipchart. 8) Close the Text Edit Toolbox when you have finished entering text. TO MOVE THE TEXT ON THE SCREEN/FLIPCHART PAGE – 1) Tap the text area you typed once with the Activpen. The text box will be surrounded by little squares. There is a little square that appears above the text box that looks like a five die. If you place your Activpen on this box, you can drag the text box without changing its shape.

TO ADD A BOX OR SHAPE TO COVER A QUESTION OR SENTENCE YOU WANT REVEALED DURING THE LESSON – 2) Click the Resource Library icon from the smaller toolbar. It’s the one that has the gold directional arrows you can click to navigate through your Flipchart. The

resource library icon looks like a stack of books and is at the bottom of this toolbar. When the Resource Library opens to the left of the Flipchart, there is a row of images. Select the 6th one down, which is the “shared shapes” collection. Select which shape you want to use as a cover for your text. Drag it to the Flipchart using your Activpen. You can use the little squares that appear around the border of your shape to stretch or change the shape of the box so that it covers your text. If you want to change the color of your shape, go back to the main toolbar and tap your Activpen on the color you want it to be. The box should change colors. Drag the shape over the sentence you want to cover. You will always be able to move the shape unless you “lock” it, which will be covered later.

8) Save your Flipchart by clicking on the Promethean icon on the toolbar saving your file to “other location.....” and selecting your flashdrive.
