The king of Thebes Laius and Queen Jocasta had given a birth to a son, who soon to replace his father on the throne. A prophecy had been told that king Laius is to perish by the hand of his own son, so the king ordered to exile his son and leave him to his death in the Jungle. The baby (Oedipus) was not killed but instead the messenger cast him away to Corinth of which he was adopted by King Polybus and Merope. The baby was named Oedipus and now a young man believing that his parents were the ruler Corinth.
