A group of dedicated individuals who are: Medical Practitioners, Health Technicians, Educators, Private, Corporate and Non-Profit Professionals, Business and Religious Leaders, Media Representatives, Community Based Organizations,, Developers, Civic, Community and Government Officials; and Residents of the District of Columbia
WHAT IS OUR MISSION? •

To assist the Department of Health Perinatal and Infant Health Bureau’s DC Healthy Start Project to establish a community voice to address social and economic factors that cause poor health and reduce perinatal outcome disparities (including infant mortality, very low birth weight, and preterm births; and To improve the preconception/interconception health of women and infants residing in the District of Columbia.
WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE? • • • • •
Promote health and well-being among families in the District of Columbia; Collaborate with organizations in the community & pool resources to reduce & maintain a low infant mortality rate Aid families with an emphasis on new and expectant mothers, in the District of Columbia with social services with the ultimate goal of reducing and maintaining a low infant mortality rate; Serve as an advisory group for the Department of Health Maternal and Family Health Administration, DC Healthy Start Project; and Support the Mayor’s Initiative to improve the health and well being of residents in the District of Columbia
WHAT DO MEMBERS DO? Meet regularly to define goals and objectives and ways to implement shared priorities for addressing factors that cause poor health and infant mortality; & advise the Dept of Perinatal and Infant Health Bureau
WHAT DO BOARD MEMBERS DO? Meet regularly to discuss ways to reduce the infant mortality rate; implement the vision of the member ship; provide leadership and governance to the Consortium; assist in selecting qualified and competent board members; and assist in finding funding and other revenue streams
WHO CAN JOIN? Any responsible individual who is willing to work hard to assist us in reducing infant mortality in the District of Columbia
