MEMORANDUM TO:

Prof. Alfredo D. Carlos Jr.

FROM:

Argel Kristoffer T. Cruz Paul Maverick B. Ward

SUBJECT:

Consolidating Bakeries

DATE:

July 28. 2007

1. Problem of the Case

The problem of the case is the lack of Management systems and organization strategy with managers in the two branches of the bakeries.

2. Areas of Consideration

As per stated from the problem, Ralph Zacarachy doesn't have any managers in both bakeries. Hence he can't manage both bakeries at the same time; one bakery is getting overlooked if he is on the other branch. Even though he is successful in his first branch at downtown Los Angeles, his new branch at the suburban shopping center, is not successful because he can’t manage it simultaneously.

3. Alternative Courses of Action

Option A: He should get 2 managers for both the bakeries that he owns. Having managers in both branches of bakery will give Ralph Zacarachy controlled bakeries that is handled by experienced managers.

Pros: The manager in each branch of bakery will be successful in their job and will make the bakery a very successful business for Ralph Zacarachy. They will have good profits in both bakeries.

Cons: The managers may not be successful on controlling the bakeries.

Option B: Ralph Zacarachy could get information and help for him to handle both the bakeries on his own. He should get reinforcements for him to avoid further difficulties on handling the business.

Pros: Zacarachy would be successful on handling both the bakeries and avoids having further difficulties on the road.

Cons: Zacarachy would still fine it very confusing and difficult on handling the bakeries on his own. The bakeries could create further problems that may grow into a major problem.

4. Recommendation

We recommend using Option A because it fits best for the confusion and dilemma that Ralph Zacarachy is currently having.
