Why does art matter? In this dynamic panel discussion, Claire Armstrong is the current editor of Art World, a new three distinguished COFA alumni weigh in on this perennial a bimonthly magazine focusing on international question and explain Why Art Matters to them. contemporary art. Art World started in February 2008 and has quickly had a major impact on the Australian ar t scene. Armstrong is also a former editor of the quarterly magazines Art & Australia and Art Asia Pacific. Andrew Frost is a writer, journalist and occasional curator who lives on the Central Coast of NSW. Frost was one of the founders of The Art Life, a weekly no-holds-barred blog which critiques the Sydney art scene. He also hosts The Art Life on ABC T V, now going into its second series. Frost writes freelance on Australian ar t for a variety of national and international publications. Kon Gouriotis OAM is the current Director of Visual Ar ts at the Australia Council. Formerly, Gouriotis was the Executive Director of the Casula Powerhouse Ar ts Centre and Liverpool Regional Museum. In 2004, Gouriotis was awarded an OAM for ser vices to the ar ts in Western Sydney. He has received two Asialink awards and has also contributed to a number of publications.
