Chapter 3 Results This chapter deals with the presentation, analysis and interpretation of the data gathered in connection with the specific problems and hypothesis of this research study. As previously stated, this investigation aimed to determine the literary interpretation skills of the BSED Social Science and Mathematics majors of the College of Education at WVSU. Data were presented, analyzed and interpreted in the light of this objective. This chapter presents the descriptive data analysis, and the inferential data analysis. Descriptive data analysis was employed to determine the level of literary interpretation skills of the respondents when classified as a whole and when classified as to their major. The inferential data analysis provides for the ttest computations on the differences in the literary interpretation skills when respondents were classified to major. Descriptive Data Analysis

47 Descriptive data analysis was used to show the level of literary interpretation skills of BSED Social Science and Mathematics majors of the College of Education at WVSU when classified as a whole and according to their major. This analysis explains the measures of variation of the students’ performance in literary interpretation. Based on the results, Table 2 shows that the level of literary interpretation skills when taken as a whole were very satisfactory (M=31.28, SD=6.534). The students’ scores were slightly scattered around the mean, (SD=6.534).

The p-value of 0.743 was lower than the set .05 level of significance (1.980) for two-tailed test. It means that there was no significant difference in the level of literary interpretation skills of BSED Social Science and Mathematics majors of the College of Education at WVSU
