Patricia C. Chaback Industry Director Large and Mid-Size Business Division Internal Revenue Service Patricia C. Chaback has served as the Industry Director for the Communications, Technology and Media (CTM) Industry, headquartered in Oakland, CA, for the Internal Revenue Service’s Large and Mid-Size Business Division (LMSB), since August 2006. CTM is one of five industries that are responsible for administering the tax compliance of large corporations and partnership entities in the United States, including multinational businesses, with assets of over $10 million. The federal tax issues raised by the Communications, Technology and Media industry are among the most complex areas addressed by the Internal Revenue Service today. As the Industry Director, Ms. Chaback is responsible for nearly 900 employees located across the country, ensuring their strategic alignment, issue focus, and successful delivery of the LMSB Division's compliance goals and objectives. In addition, Patricia serves as the Executive Issue Champion for three Tier I compliance issues, (Cost Sharing - Buy-ins, R&E Credit Claims, and Section 118 Abuses), and five listed tax shelter transactions; she is the LMSB Chairperson on the IRS Advisory Committee (IRSAC), and she is a member of the OECD Forum on Tax Administration - Compliance Management of Large Business Task Group. Prior to her current executive appointment, Ms. Chaback served for over three years as the Director, Field Operations (East) for the LMSB Financial Services Industry, and was headquartered in Hartford, CT. Patricia began her career with the IRS as a revenue agent for the Hartford District in 1982. Through the many special assignments and increasingly complex positions that she has held with the Service, Ms. Chaback has gained an administrative and technical expertise in both domestic and international tax law. Ms. Chaback holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Elmira College, in New York, and a Master of Arts degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of New Haven, in Connecticut.
