Campo Baeza is a highly regarded architect internationally with a comprehensive folder of work spanning forty years. He is especially commended for his ability to combine retaining wall, access route and monument all in one structure. The cultural centre is a fine example of this combining circulation space with exhibition space, around an elliptical courtyard in which two ramps interweave to form an impressive realm. This courtyard is based on the thirty meter diameter courtyard of the palace of Charles V at the Alhambra. The tower at the end forms a 42m×54m screen cleverly capturing the horizon andneighbouring space.
