Performance Task Becoming a Cartographer Background: You have spent the many weeks in preparation for becoming a cartographer, or map maker. You have learned to read maps and identify land forms and water bodies. Task: You wish to become a certified cartographer. In order to accomplish this, you must complete one final test. A renowned archeologist has agreed to use your services to find an ancient, lost settlement. You have to draw her a map to help her do her research. Your map must show where an early settlement (1600’s or before) might have been located. Three key factors must be included in the selection of your possible site for the settlement: the need for transportation access, the need for food and water, and the need for safety. The following features must appear on your map:
