Keith Haring • Keith Haring was born on May 4, 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania, and was raised in nearby Kutztown, Pennsylvania. He developed a love for drawing at a very early age, learning basic cartooning skills from his father and from the popular culture around him, such as Dr. Seuss and Walt Disney.
Keith Haring • In his late teens and early 20’s, He was an artist and social activist whose work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s. • In the summer of 1980 he took up drawing, inventing intricate cartoon-style murals of mutant figures locked in hyperphysical engagement.

Keith Haring • In June 1989, on the rear wall of the convent of the Church of Sant'Antonio in Pisa, he painted the last public work of his life, the mural "Tuttomondo". Haring died in 1990 of an HIV (AIDS)-related disease. He had been diagnosed HIV positive two years earlier.
