Drinking Water Quality Issues . 95% of shallow groundwater (at 150ft) supplies are microbiologically contaminated. [Pakistan Strategic Country Environmental Assessment Report (Pak SCEA) – 2006].

. 20 - 40% hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering form water related diseases (cholera, typhoid, dysentery and hepatitis). [UNICEF] . One-third of total deaths are due to water. . In 2006, estimated total health cost due to water was Pak Rs. 114 billion (U$ 2.0 billion) [Pak – SCEA-2006]
