Introduction to Bones  .:What

Are Bones Used For Within Our Body?:.  There are around 206 bones in our body and they all serve many purposes  One of their primary purposes is to protect internal organs (e.g. the skull protects the brain and the ribs protect the lungs  Muscles are pulled against bones to make the body move  Bone marrow, the soft spongy tissue in the center of many bones, makes blood cells, which do not divide and reproduce

Introduction to Cancer and Tumors  Cancer,

is a collection of abnormal cells that create a malignant tumor  These malignant tumors can spread and destroy healthy tissues and invade other organs  Another type of tumor, the benign tumor, is nonlife threatening and can usually be removed easily by basic surgery  Although benign tumors may return, some additional surgery will be able to remove them

Symptoms of Bone Cancer  Since

there are different kinds of bone cancer, the symptoms depend on the type’s information (location, size of tumor)  Although there are other symptoms of bone cancer, the most common one is pain  Bone cancer may also cause bones to break

How Can Bone Cancer Be Diagnosed  In

order for a doctor to diagnose the Bone cancer, he will probably ask for a sample blood test and x-rays  X-rays will help to identify the shape of the cancer. If the shape is round and smooth, it is benign. However, if the shape is irregular, then doctors will run more tests  Tests such as Cat Scans, MRI, Angiograms, and biopsy  If Bone cancer is diagnosed, it is very important for the doctor to know its location and if it is spreading

Causes of Bone Cancer  Most

of the time, rather then starting from the bones themselves, cancer cells spread to the bones  In general, however, no one knows for certain the primary cause of Bone Cancer
