Open Series (Orlando) 31/32 Apple (To the “A” gap) 33/34 Barrel (To the “B” gap) 35/36 Cracker (To the “C” gap)

• Like lead, linemen block away from the hole called • When in doubt take the man on you and block him away from the hole • Unlike lead, the BSG pulls and leads up the hole.. • Full Back also leads through the hole (ISO), Linebacker may be double teamed. • No dancing in the hole!

Trap (Tampa) 21/22; 23/24; 25/26 31/32; 33/34; 35/36 DT head up or outside eye will be trapped, if he is inside

we will “squash” him and trap long. Tackles take first backer inside, trap is an inside play, so DE’s don’t usually need to be blocked by linemen. PSG blocks down on first man inside, this is usually up to a backer, unless DT is inside. Center will always block away. BSG- will trap the first man on or outside the called gap. FB will aim at the nose of the football if it is an even front or at the playside hip of the center if it is an odd front. The Y will generally will work up to SAM linebacker. Tail back will generally fake some sort of sweep or power play. If it is to the 3, then the 2 will go opposite.

Counter Trey • Counter treys are like trap, however, they require two pullers and are off tackle. • PST- Always blocks back to the first man inside, usually the Will linebacker. (If backer disappears, then CHIP). • PSG- Always blocks back to the first man inside. If no backer, then CHIP with Center. • Center, blocks on or away. • BSG- Pulls and kicks out the EMOL. • BST- Pulls and leads up on first backer who shows. It is crucial he scrape paint and hug all of the linemen and work up as tight to the next level as possible. • Y Fan DE. • 2 Back may fake or block in replacing dlinemen.

Option Series (Omaha) • The person to the call will not be blocked. • If a lead option the FB will lead. • If midline option the first DT inside the OT will not be blocker. • If Speed option, all outside Defenders will be sealed and first DB will be optioned by the Q and the Option man.

Blocking Rules for G • G is an off tackle trap, it is a combination of a trap and a lead. – It is a trap, because the PSG traps the EMOL. – It is like a lead, because no one pulls and the 2back leads.

• Y blocks down (if there is a wing he kicks out the SAM) • PST- Blocks down • PSG- Pull step (coming across the LOS) and kicking out the EMOL inside out. (The Angle of the PSG is crucial) • Center, BSG and BST – Scoop block seal all backside penetration.
