ABSTRACT
Reality
Natural object image
The object chosen to represent Picasso was a starfish. This particular starfish has cones shapes coming out from every arm.
3-D Concept Model
The three dimensional concept model was based both off of the starfish and Picasso’s work. The basis of the design was the natural starfish and then from that it was abstracted in a style similar to that of the artist. Colors that are often present in his works were also used.
In these 2-D concept models the idea of a starfish was abstracted. The five triangles representing the five arms of a starfish were still kept, but they do not resemble the arms of a starfish. Picasso’s quote is about taking reality and removing all traces of it to create something abstract was the inspiration for this.

Concept Statement
The natural object chosen to represent Picasso was a starfish. This starfish is somewhat unique in that it has cones coming out of the top. Out of all the starfish this one seems most similar to Picasso. Picasso is all about abstracting reality. To abstract a starfish, triangles were used because they still resemble thestarfish but are not a literal version. In the three dimensional version, triangles were again used, but they were even more abstracted. These triangles curved and were of unnatural colors which express Picasso as an artist.
