*Being and Making Disciples
Define discipleship: Matt. 28:18 –20 = (Summarize)
NOTE: This verse says that we must go into all of the world and witness to others, but it also says that we must make disciples. A disciple is someone who grows up in Christ and can teach others His ways. It is also someone who is willing to give their all for the sake of Christ. What does Jesus say about discipleship (following Him) according to each verse? Heb. 12:2 = (Summarize) NOTE: Christ is our ultimate example 1. If the cross is the ultimate symbol of discipleship, then what can we say about Jesus and his cross? What price did he pay? How can we live a life as dedicated as Christ? How can we live that life so others can follow us as we follow Christ?
Every disciple needs accountability! Why is this according to each verse? James 5:16 = 1 Jn. 1: 7 = Ex. David and Jonathan (Read 1 Sam.20) 2. Reread verse 17. Why is it important to have a person in our walk with God that we can be accountable to? Why is it important that this person loves us as himself or herself? Jn.15: 8 = What does Jesus say His disciples will do? What do you think He means by this? 2 Tim. 2:2= As one is being discipled, they are to pass what they learn on to others. What do you think this means? How can this be done?
