Trading Systems API 5.0 installation instructions: Uninstalling 4.2 version: 1. Unregister the previous version of Trading Systems Excel Add-in by starting Excel, going to Tools/Add-Ins and unselecting Bloomberg Trading System API 4.2 2. Uninstall existing version of the Trading Systems API by going to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs and selecting the Bloomberg Trading Systems API 4.2. Note: You may need admin privileges to uninstall the existing version. Uninstalling previous 5.0 versions: If you were (are) a Beta testing participant and have a previous Trading Systems 5.0 release, please follow the steps below to remove the previous 5.0 versions. 1. Unregister the previous version of Trading Systems Excel Add-in by starting Excel, going to Tools/Add-Ins and unselecting Bloomberg Trading System API 5.0 2. Uninstall existing version of the Trading Systems API by going to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs and selecting the Bloomberg Trading Systems API 5.0. Note: You may need admin privileges to uninstall the existing version. Installing the latest version: 1. Make sure that you have the latest "Trading System API Data Dictionary". This can be downloaded from http://about.bloomberg.com/software/info_api.html Note: You may need admin privileges to install Trading Systems API Data Dictionary. 2. Open TSAPI5Stp.zip and run TSAPI5Instl.exe to start installation. Admin privileges on the computer are not needed. This TSAPI5Inst.exe must be run by each user who wants to use the Trading Systems API. After installation is completed, you are going to see Windows Command window (C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe) clearly stating the status of installation, as shown on the pictures below: - Installation has completed successfully:

Note: To uninstall 5.0 version, click on Uninstall.bat in C:\BLP\TSAPI5 directory, then delete C:\BLP\TSAPI5 folder. Instructions on using Trading Systems API: 1. Login to the Trading Systems via the Bloomberg Terminal. 2. Launch Microsoft Excel. You should now see the Trading Systems API 5.0 toolbar:
Note: If, for some reason, you don’t see the Trading Systems API 5.0 toolbar in Excel you can add it manually by going to Tools/Add-Ins, clicking the Browse button and navigating to the C:\BLP\TSAPI5\blptsapix.xla file. 3. Click on Configure Session to start the Trading Systems session for the current workbook. Make the choice of Beta or Production and select a Firm from the list if applicable. 4. Add a new query. Specify the book type, select fields and click OK. You should now see the data retrieved. Instructions on opening workbooks created with 4.2 version: Workbooks created with 4.2 version of Bloomberg Trading System API will be automatically migrated to the 5.0 version. A backup of the old file will be kept before migrating the workbook. A backup file with FILE_NAME.TSAPI_V4.2.xls file name will be saved in the same directory as the original file. First time you open a 4.2 version of the workbook in 5.0, you may see the following message.
Please click Continue and the workbook should be migrated without any problems. Reporting problems: 1. Turn on error logging by running the following command in the Bloomberg Terminal: DNET SPROXYLOG ON 2. Launch Excel and click on ‘Start Logging’ button on the Trading Systems Toolbar.
3. Re-trace the steps that caused the error. 4. Click the same toolbar button to ‘Stop Logging’ troubleshooting messages. Exit Excel. 5. Log files from the TS API session will have been written to: %TEMP%\Bloomberg\logs folder. 6. Call Bloomberg support. Bloomberg support team will retrieve these files for troubleshooting further.
