Independence War Of Bangladesh

INTRODUCTION

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Bangladesh was known as east Pakistan until 1971. In 1971, Bangladesh had war with Pakistan to declare their independence as a different country with a right to speak their own language. Loads of heroic people died giving their lives up to fight for independence. The Pakistani army had done terrible things with innocent people in Bangladesh but Bangladesh could not do anything because Pakistan was overpowering them at the time. The war lasted 9 months until Bangladesh got their independence and also the right for their language to be recognised. The leader of the Awami League party was called Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he was a freedom fighter for Bangladesh. In March 7, 1971 was a day of supreme test in his life. The leaders of the military of Pakistan were waiting to trap him . Heavily armed Pakistani troops were told to wait for the order to start massacre near the Suhrawardy Uddyan which is now a national memorial .

SHAHEED MINAR The shaheed minar is a national monument in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is built to remember those who were killed during the language movement demonstrations in 1952.
