… declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9) Updates from B2b Student Center, Maydolong, E. Samar, Philippines

2004 will soon be over! Looking back, we could see how God’s guidance and provision has enabled us to move on in the midst of the challenges and changes that we faced … In February, we moved from a more expensive location along the National Highway of the province to a cheaper area but within the center of the town. We renovated one unoccupied market stall in the Maydolong Coliseum and transformed it into the present B2b Student Center. We thank God for allowing us to use these places!

Since 2003, B2b has Spread His Word in various ways to students and the community by: Selling Christian books and literatures on consignment basis from the Phil. Christian Book Store; Holding small group Bible study with youth and students; Having monthly gathering with youth and students; Posting monthly themes on the store’s window; Giving tokens containing verses to the 1st 30 customers of every month; and Giving free gospel tracts.

In April, Ate Daisy and Floricel (a sophomore student of the ESSU1) attended the Phil. Navigators’ National Summer Youth Conference in Bataan. Many students would like to join but budget required was very high due to the far distance. We thank God for those who gave financial assistance so that this 2 youths from E. Samar could join the activity! In July, Ate Sharon’s house in Borongan became the boarding house of 4 ESSU students from Maydolong. Ate Daisy started meeting them once a week and began a Bible study with them. We thank God for the student’s willingness and interest to know more about Him and His Word! In August, Ate Daisy left for Thailand to volunteer as a teacher. She left her responsibilities to Jenelith and Alma. Jenelith now leads the students’ Bible study and monthly gathering while Alma is incharge of the store and business activity. We thank God for providing people who will continue the task and for giving them wisdom on how to handle their new roles! 1

Eastern Samar State College was converted in August 2004 into the first University of the province.
