How to use Avro to write Bangla? Go to next page
1. Avro has created several things on your computer. a) There is a bangla “a” icon on your Quick Launch area. b) There is a “avro” icon on your desktop c) Your start menu now has “Avro keyboard” option d) On top right of your desktop/laptop, you will see a transparent menubar. This is Avro menubar. 2. On the menubar , the first item says “English”. Click on it and it will say Bangla like বাংলা 3. Now you are ready to type in Bangla. Open your Microsoft Word 4. Make sure that on the Avro menu bar, it shows বাংলা and not English. If it shows English, click to change it 5. Now click on the little triangle (arrow) to the right of the word English or বাংলা on the menu bar. It will show a menu. Select “Show active keyboard layout”. 6. It will pop up the following screen on your computer
7. This screen shows what English letter you have to type in order to get a Bengali letter on your Word or Orkut or anywhere else. 8. On Word, type aj bangla likhbo . You should see আজ বাংলা িলখব 9. িক োবােডরর সাহােযয সহেজই বাংলা িলখেত পারেবন
10.The default bangla font on Microsoft Word is Vrinda. It is not very nice looking. A font that I like is Soleimanlipi. You can download it from http://www.omicronlab.com/bangla-fonts.html 11.Choose Soleimanlipi font, save it in your machine. Then go to the file on Windows explorer and right click. In the menu, choose Install. That’s it. 12.If you need further assistance in installing the font or anything else, let me know on the Aaj Sokaler Amontrone (আজ সকােলর আমনেণ) topic.
