Wow So Many Digital Photo’s— Now What Do I Do?

If you are like me you have taken hundreds of photo’s this summer. I find my summer vacation and the Thanksgiving/ Christmas holiday seasons are the times during the year that I take the most photo’s.

It will find my photo’s on my computer for me.

I can edit my photo’s before I send them to print.

In an attempt to keep my photo’s organized I try to take a few minutes when I download to name the files they are in (camp, scouts, thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.). Sometime when I download there are multiple events on the camera. I will create the file names and move the pictures to their appropriate files. This makes it much easier to find them when I want to print them. I have started to use a free software program called Picasa (www.picasa.com). I have found the following Picasa features helpful:

50 prints for $1.00 use code 50forabuck

Clarkcolor.com 40 free when you sign up

I can add text to my photo’s

Snapfish.com 50 free when you sign up

It will upload my selected photo’s to an online photo development service easily

Winkflash.com 4x6 prints only .6¢ code:only6cents

I can create posters & Picture collages—I have not tried this yet but I will.

Many online photo development services offer great deals when you sign up and again during the year. I use many different services to take advantage of the specials offered. Below is a list of photo development companies I have used and the offers I found today (8/3/09)

Yorkphoto.com

There are many different companies you can use. The above list are the ones I have used and are happy with. If you have used a service you like let me know and I will pass on the information. One more thing. Before you submit your order take a look at how they are going to crop your photo. I have added text to my photos and have had them cut off because I did not pay attention to their crop lines.

CTMH Customer Thanks-a-bration From August 3rd until August 17th only every order of at least $100.00 will not only receive the August Stamp Of The Month (shown right) for free you will receive a surprise level 2 My Reflections paper packet FREE. But if you are like me you probably love most of CTMH papers so what have you got to loose.

If there is a technique you have heard about and would like me to teach it please let me know. I am always looking for additional ideas.

Product Highlight— Liquid Glass (Z679 - $6.95) “Liquid glass? What's that?" It's a fun product you are going to love! Liquid glass is an easy product to make images shine, look 3-D, and pop off the page! You can add liquid glass to any stamped image, paper or even My Stickease. Basically, all you have to do is squeeze it out to cover the desired area and that's it! Here are a few tips on how to use this product effortlessly: 1. Don't shake the bottle! When you shake the bottle it add bubbles and makes the surface less smooth when you squeeze it out. If you have bubbles, gently squeeze a little out onto a scrap paper so that you can get the air bubbles out before your start your project. 2. Be sure to clean off the tip each time you use it so you don't get globs of it stuck to the outside. 3. It's best to keep the liquid flowing from the bottle instead of stopping and starting. Move your hand holding the bottle over the area you want to cover; this helps keep you from building air bubbles in the work. If bubbles form, use the tip of a toothpick to pop the bubbles. 4. Allow time to dry, 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness. If it's really thick let it sit longer. 5. Add sparkle to the liquid glass. Use the liquid glass like normal then sprinkle with glitter while wet. 6. To get a fun textured look, stamp tone on tone and then go back and put liquid glass on the stamped areas. It makes a fun look. 7. It's also the perfect adhesive for our sculpting foam. Regular adhesives do not hold well when using sculpting foam or Makin's Clay, but a little glob of the liquid glass makes a great adhesive. 8. You can squeeze out circles onto waxed paper and make your own clear pebbles. You can use them to put over stamped images, or make bubbles for a fish, etc. Very fun. 9. If you are using liquid glass on an image that will be cut out, first stamp the image, apply liquid glass, and then cut out after drying. If you cut out the image before applying the liquid glass, the paper may curl. Have fun using liquid glass...it's so easy! Here are some samples:

from all but the bottom photo cute away the background, and then use pop dots to layer the cut-out portion of the photo on top of the full size regular photograph. I have asked you to do a lot to the photos. I strongly feel that if you look at a layout and you do not see the subject of the photo you missed the point. You can still do that with all of the added attention I am asking you to do. I would love to see your creations. Please take a minute to send me a photo of your completed work.
