What is it and what is it for ? It is a technical information to help you for the WDM DRIVER (Windows Driver Model) installation under Windows2000 (in case of ISA, PC104, PCI and CompactPCI format card).

1 Setting

1.1 SETTING For the PCI card, the operating system is able to detect and add automatically into the « Device Manager » the card. If you have installed an ISA card into your computer under Windows2000, you have to « install and configure » your card ( the operating system is not able to detect the card automatically, because the ISA format is not a Plug and Play device. The first operation that you have to do is to upgrade two files about the applicom driver (if you have an applicom version less than V3.4) .

You have to copy two files on your hard disk : C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\applicom.sys C:\WINNT\inf\applicom.inf

All files are present on the disk.

ISA

Read the page 3 to 11 to define the ISA card on your « Device manager »

PCI

Reboot your computer to initialize the new applicom driver (and suppress « Unknown PCI device »)

ISA

Read the page 3 to 11 to define the ISA card on your « Device manager »

PCI

Reboot your computer to initialize the applicom driver

Run PcConf, define the card. (See the Technote n°3) Run PcInit. (See the Technote n°3) If the PcInit works fine, it is OK. If the PcInit does not works fine, see the Technote n°5.

On the list on the « Device Manager », you can not see any « applicom card »

When you have installed the V3.4.x or superior (or upgrade the files with the V3.3.x version), and only if you use a ISA card, you have to run the « Add / Remove hardware wizard » to define a new peripheral : ISA card.

! You have to configure the same memory address and IRQ as set on the card. Do not forget to check the technote n°3 & 4 if you have any problem.

2 Test. 2.1 TEST (PcInit) When you start your computer (or reboot), the applicom card is empty (no task, no cyclic fonction, no configuration…) , well, you cannot use the card like that. To activate the applicom card, you have to run PCINIT: It is a software to load all needed tasks and functions on the card (and check in the meantime if the applicom card works fine). If your ISA or PCI card is correctly detected, logically at the end of the PcInit, it will be shut down automatically.

RUN PCINIT :

Do not forget to check the technote n°3 & 4 if you have any problem.
