After This the Judgment by Gene poore “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.” (GEN 1:1). Then, “God created man in his own image. . . .” (GEN 1:27). That man, Adam, sinned against God. Because of Adam’s sin, every human life ends in death. After this death, God judges all deeds. God awards eternal life to souls who do good deeds. God punishes souls who do evil deeds. Thus, man is appointed once to die a human death and after this the judgment. Since God is “Not willing that any should perish . . .” (2PE 3:9) because of Adam’s sin, God “. . . Gave His only begotten Son. . . .” (JOH 3:16). Then scripture promises, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (ROM 10:13). The name of the Lord is Jesus. However, “The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ . . . shine unto them.” (2CO 4:4). Yet, Christ’s gospel lights up minds spiritually darkened by the god of this world. Christ’s gospel destroys Satan’s dominance in our life. To receive Christ’s enlightenment, we must return to gospel basics. We need to quit listening to random philosophy and thoroughly read once--or again--God’s dust-collecting Holy Book lurking unmolested on a shelf. We need to study scripture, accepting what scripture means in our native tongue. We must believe when scripture states, “God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (ECC 12:14). “He that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” (COL 3:25). “[God] hath appointed a day, in the which [God] will judge the world in righteousness by that man. . . .” (ACT 17:31). That man is Jesus. When compared with Jesus, how miserably short we fall. Yet, because God knows about human failings, God provided Holy Plans on how to receive forgiveness. In God’s Holy Book, God details how we build a home in heaven. Yet, only those who study God’s Book and follow God’s detailed plan can build a heavenly house. For those who refuse to read God’s instructions, who refuse to follow God’s outline, God also has a plan for dissenters. The Book of Revelation explains in chapter twenty, verse eleven through fifteen: I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. . . . Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Thus, God’s plan for us includes final punishment as well as final reward. God kept neither ending secret. Yes, God appointed man once to die, but God sent His Son, Jesus, to pave a protective path to the reward. When we follow Jesus’ path, Jesus stands with us at God’s judgment. Jesus said, “Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God: but he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.” (LUK 12:8-9). With those words, Jesus quells fear of punishment for us who trust our Lord and Redeemer.
