Adopt-A-Class 2008 Community Action offers opportunities for groups to "adopt" Head Start pre-kindergarten classrooms for the holidays. Groups provide each child in a classroom of 20 children with at least one gift selected from our Wish List (see below). We match your group with a specific class that is as close as possible to your location. Your teacher contact will provide gender and size information, as well as first names if needed. Participating groups must adopt at least one entire classroom of 20 students. Gift donations must be wrapped and delivered by the donor group to the Head Start classroom no later than Wednesday, December 17th, 2008. Donations to Community Action are tax deductible as defined by law. Our federal tax identification number is: 93-0554941. Receipt forms for Adopt-A-Class gifts are provided upon request. The Adopt-A-Class Wish List includes new books selected by Head Start teachers (many available in Spanish/English, but English is fine), as well as new winter weather gear (hats, boots, coats/jackets), underwear and socks, educational games such as letter or number bingo, 10-20 piece puzzles, Legos, or other toys that help to enhance fine motor skills. Second-hand (used) gifts are not acceptable. All gifts must be new. We cannot allow gifts that recognize particular religious faiths. If you have questions about Adopt-A-Class, please contact: Scott Schlegel Community Action Volunteer Coordinator & Community Relations Specialist [email protected] 503-693-3254
