Active Voice A verb is Active Voice when its form shows that the person or thing denoted by its form shows that the person by the Subject does something .In other words ,it is the doer of the action.

Passive Voice A verb is said to be in the Passive Voice when its forms shows that something is done to the person or thing denoted by the Subject.

Revision of rules to form the Passive Voice:----Present Indefinite

Active Voice -1 form of the verb+ s/esDo/does (not)

Passive Voice Is/am/are+III form of verb

Past Indefinite  Active

Voice:-- II form of the Verb did(not)  Passive Voice :-----Was/were +III form E.G:---ACTIVE You made a noise. PASSIVE-A voice is made by you. :

Present Continuous Active Voice Is ,am, are ,(not) Passive Voice I form+ing Is, am,are (not )+being +III form Eg. Active: You are making a noise. Passive: A noise is being made by you.

Past Perfect • Active Voice Was,were(not) I form +ing • Passive Voice Was, were (not)+being+III form E.g Active: She was watering the plants. Passive: The plants were being watered by her.

Present Perfect Active Voice -Has/have(not)+III form  Passive Voice -Has/have not been+III form. Eg. Active:She has stolen my camera. 

Passive: My camera has been stolen by her.

Past Perfect Active Voice - Had(not)+III form  Passive Voice -Had(not)been +III form E.G.- Active:-Someone has stolen my camera. Passive:My camera has been stolen . 

Future Perfect

• Active Voice -Will/shall (not)

have +III form • Passive Voice -Will/shall (not) have been +III form E.g.Active: The teacher will punish the naughty boys. Passive: The naughty boys will be punished by the teacher.

Modal VerbWill Active Voice Will,shall,would,should,can,could,may,might,must,ought to +I form

Passive Voice

Will,shall,would,should,can,could,may,might,must,ought to be+III form E.g : Active: You cannot do this. Passive: This cannot be done by you. e.g: Active: I will wash the dishes. Passive: The dishes will be washed by me.

Imperative Sentence  To change in passive voice use “Let’’ before subject and ‘be’before III form.  If there is an order,advice, request, in sentence then we use you are ordered,advised,requested to before the sentence.  Exa:Active: Shut the door. Passive:Let the door be shut.  Exa:Active: Change your clothes. Passive: You are advised to change your clothes.

Choose the active or the passive I read an interesting story. Bhagat is admired by all. Gandhi ji nursed his sick wife. .The child is carried by her father. I will wash the dishes.
