Activating Blackberry Handheld through Enterprise Activation for US Devices Please follow the instruction documented below. This can only be used to resolve initial US GCEW problems and should not be used for future communication issues. NOTE: You have to execute this within 48 hours. Your password will be expired after 48 hours. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DEVICE IS IN A GOOD COVERAGE AREA BEFORE STARTING THIS PROCESS STEP 1: Erasing Data and corrupted Service Entries from BlackBerry Handheld 1.
Select Options from the Desktop and then select “Security” from the Options and press track wheel. Now you will be in Security screen and press Track wheel again. 1.1 Change the Content Protection to Disabled. 1.1.1 Select the option Wipe Handheld from the menu. The following warning message “Warning, all application data will be lost! Email service and other services will be disabled ” will be displayed with Continue and Cancel. Select Continue now. 1.2 ‘Enter “blackberry” to confirm handheld wipe’ will be displayed. Enter blackberry (all lower case letters) and press track wheel. 1.3 Now the message "Erasing Information" will be displayed on the blackberry screen. The data in your BlackBerry is being erased. Once the data is erased, the device will re-set automatically. 1.4 During the device reset you will see the following on the screen Initializing Hour Glass Rotating Verifying security software 1.5 The BlackBerry device may ask for the new password. Enter new password “gcew” and re-enter the password “gcew” to confirm it. 1.6 If you already have GCEW application in your BlackBerry, you may see the message “Do you want to allow the application IMS Radio to act as a server?” If this message displayed, please check the box for “all http connections”, and select “Allow this connection” and press the track wheel to continue. 1.7 Now please go for Hard Reset (Please remove the battery and wait for 5 seconds and then put it back) 1.8 Go to Radio Tower on the Desktop and press the track wheel to Turn Wireless On if it was turned off. And wait till the signal change to LX 1.9 If the Date and Time on BlackBerry desk top is not displaying your Local Current Time, then select Options from the Desktop and then select “Date/Time” from the Options and press track

wheel. Now you will be in Date/Time screen. Make sure you are in Time Zone, and press the Control (Half Moon) Key and you will see the list of time zone. Move the track wheel up or down to select your Local Time Zone and press Track Wheel. Make sure you see the correct local time on Time field.
STEP 2: Activating the BlackBerry Device with BlackBerry Enterprise Server Make sure that your device is in a good coverage area before starting the Activation process 2.
Select Options from the Desktop and then select “Enterprise Activation” from the Options and press track wheel. 2.1 Enter email id as
[email protected] (Example:
[email protected]) Password is gcew Now press the track wheel and select Activate. 2.2 The BlackBerry device is now activating with BES. During activate process the follow messages will be displayed. Verifying Encryption… Encryption verified. Waiting for services… Services received Your Email Address, “
[email protected]” is now enabled. 2.3 Press the Escape button, once you receive the “Your Email Address, “
[email protected]” is now enabled” message. The Enterprise activation will continue running on the background.
STEP 3: Configuring and Using GCEW Application 3.1 If you do not have GCEW Application (with NCR logo) on your BlackBerry, please go to STEP 4 INSTALLING GCEW APPLICATION ON BLACKBERRY DEVICE and then follow these instructions from 3.2 3.2 Select GCEW Application in your BlackBerry, please select GCEW Application and it will take you to “D1 Configuration” screen. Please enter all your details in D1 Configuration screen and save them. 3.3 After you save the D1 configuration you will be taken to the main screen in GCEW application. Now press the track wheel and select communicate. When you see the message “The application Global Wireless requested a socket connection to GCEW-NETWORK.daytonoh.ncr.com” please check the two boxes on left side for “ all socket connections” and “socket connections to GCEW-NETWORK.daytonoh.ncr.com” and select “Allow this connection” and press track wheel.
”D1 Host Communication” screen will be displayed now and the device will wait to receive the response from D1. 3.4 Please communicate again and again till you see the message " New Global Code Version 1.2 is available now". When you see this message, please press Escape key. And you will see the following message: “The application WEB.NCR.COM” IMS Development

Now check the two boxes on left side for “all socket connections” and “socket connections to GCEW-WEB.NCR.COM” and select “Allow this connection” and press track wheel. Now the Global Codes will be downloaded and will store the data in BlackBerry Device. After it completes downloading the global code, you will see the message Press ESCAPE to exit. Now press the escape key and you will be back to the Work Order Queue screen in GCEW. NOTE: On your first unsolicited message, the user may once again be prompted to put checkmarks in the HTTP: boxes and again select “Allow this connection”. To verify the version on the GCEW device, go to the GCEW application and select “about”. This should display “GCEW 3.03 Build 00 Global Codes V1.2” after the successful loading.
STEP 4: Installing GCEW Application on BlackBerry Device 4.1 Please select NCR BROWSER from the Desktop and select Home Page and press the track wheel and then select Get Link from the menu. It will take you to GCEW Download Center screen. Now go down and select PocketLoader and press the track wheel and then select Get Link from the menu and wait for some time. It will take you to PocketLoad.jad screen and select Download and press Track Wheel now. You will see the message Downloading PocketLoad on the screen. Once the PocketLoader was successfully loaded, you will see the message “The application was successfully installed”. Select OK. 4.2 Perform HARD RESET (Remove the battery for 10 seconds and re-install). 4.3 Select LOAD (with NCR Logo) on the Desktop and press Track Wheel. You will be taken to GCEW Application Modules screen. You will see “PocketLoad’ and other modules. Only “PocketLoad” will have Version number and Date. Now press the track wheel and select Load from the menu. You will see the message “Are You Sure Want to Load the MISSING GCEW Modules?” on the screen. Please select Yes and press Track Wheel. 4.4 Now you will see the following message: “The application Pocket Loader has requested a http connection to sun1316” Please check the two boxes on left side for “all http connections” and “socket connections to sun1316” and select “Allow this connection” and press track wheel. Now the GCEW application will be loaded. You will be taken to the screen “Loading Modules”. There are totally 10 modules have to be loaded. Wait till all the Overall Progress change to 100% and all 9 modules loaded on the device. Once all the 9 modules have been loaded to your BlackBerry device, the message “You must reset the device” on the screen . 4.5 Remove the battery for 10 seconds and reinstall. 4.6 Your device will be re-set now. Hour Glass Rotating Verifying security software Now you will see the message “Do you want to allow the application IMS Radio to act as a server?” If this message displayed, please check the box for “all http connections”, and select “Allow this connection” and press the track wheel to continue. 4.5 Now you can see “GCEW (GCEW with NCR Logo)”, “IMS Radio (IMS with NCR Logo)” and “Pocket Loader (LOAD with NCR Logo)” on the Desktop. 4.6 Now go back to Step 3.2 to continue.
