A Problem With PostModernism in Rhetoric By Justin Tucker
Quoted Text “Rejecting
the rigid modernism spirit of positivism and scientism in rhetorical studies proved… easy… what ought to replace it has been a difficult problem.” LLC, page 12. ◦ Problem: If something was too easy to take out and too hard to replace, doesn’t that mean that we did something wrong? ◦ Conclusion: Does that mean then
Don’t we…. All…
suffer?
Or is this instead… Yellow
Suffering?
Is this… Green
Suffering?
Don’t all times… Protest?
Debate?
Or was this too red?
Was this too blue?
Then what colors are these? Red? Blue? Green?
I don’t think… We
should be chained…
But not… Everything
new is good.
Should we… Be
so quick to clear-cut?
Don’t… The
oldest trees and most triumphant trees have the deepest roots?
I think We
are universal in our sufferings, hopes, and struggles. The rhetoric of the past can apply to us as well.
So let’s be less quick to trim down everything.
Thank you!
