University Catholic Center The UCC Social Justice Team is hosting a workshop on an Introduction to Catholic Social Teaching today, Sept. 30th from 1-3:30 pm in the UCC library. Join us for talks, video, and discussion about the history of Catholic Social Teaching, what it means for our lives today, and opportunities for a faithful response. In addition, The University Catholic Center Social Justice Team and Catholic Longhorns for Life groups will host a screening of the documentary "Executing the Insane: The Case of Scott Panetti" with a moderated discussion by Texas Coalition Against the Death Penalty's Kristin Houle. The event will take place in the library on Mon. Oct. 8, 7:30-9 pm and refreshments will be provided. Longhorn Catholics for Tomorrow Do you love the Catholic Center? Do you want to ensure will be here in the years and decades to come? We have the thing for you! TODAY at 6:30 pm, we are having an information session for "Longhorn Catholics for Tomorrow". This is a UCC committee that will only meet a few times a semester but will be vital to keep our beloved Catholic Center thriving for tomorrow and the years to come. That's TODAY at 6:30 pm in the St. Matthew Room. (LCFT)

Tired of homework? Try assigning it! Live in community with 11 other single young women and men for two years while teaching in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. You’ll also complete a master’s degree at the University of St. Thomas, become certified as a teacher and work on your personal spiritual growth. If you’ve considered the Peace Corps or Teach for America but wish to participate in a Catholic ministry, the GRACE Program might be for you! UCC Marriage Prep Workshop The fall UCC Marriage Preparation Workshop will be held Nov. 2-3. Volunteers are needed for hospitality and food preparation (lasagnas, salad and bread for Friday evening dinner and continental breakfast items, along with juice and fruit for Saturday morning). A sign-up sheet can be found at the front desk. Welcoming letters for the participating couples from “established” married couples are also needed. Students - Pick up a newsletter! Since we are still inputting all of those census cards that were filled out and you all seem to move every year, we didn't send the newest newsletter to the students. You can pick up a newsletter by the bulletins or on the round table by the bulletin board. Thank you! Mission Trip Looking for a meaningful way to spend your spring break? Want to live in solidarity with the Salvadoran poor for a week, to learn and contribute to their community? Want to walk in the footsteps of Oscar Romero and experience his vision for a more just world? There will be two info sessions about the Spring Break Mission Trip to El Salvador. The first is today, after the 8 pm Mass in the St. Francis and the other is Thurs. Oct. 4 at 8:30 in the St. Francis room. Email [email protected] for more info. Next Step Retreat. Have you been asking yourself these questions: Should I stay in my major? What's my next life step? What happens when I graduate? How do I discern God's voice in the decisions I make? Compass Bible Study! Meeting on Thursday nights from 7-8 pm in the Mother Teresa Room, Compass is a fun and laidback way to read scripture and get a little more out of Mass. Every week we spend an hour discussing the next Sunday’s readings and sharing our faith. We are student run, student led, and totally low time commitment, so drop by whenever you can.
