8088 INTERNAL ARCHITECTURE: The 8088 CPU is divided into two independent functional parts, the bus interface unit or BIU and the execution unit or the EU. A flag is a flip-flop which indicates some condition produced by the execution of an instruction or controls certain operations of the EU.
