What is debenture?  It

is a fixed interest bearing instrument issued for a fixed number of years by a company. It is issued generally for 7 years. It is generally secured instrument (charge against assets of the company). It may be convertible debenture also. It is different from share – shares give you ownership and gives you dividend (share in profit).
