HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF

YOUR PURPOSE OF LIFE IN RESPECT OF EACH OF THESE MULTIPLE ROLES ?

Make an attempt to express all priorities and important aspects of one’s ideal life? Then, really plan to achieve your priorities ?

DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR WORK-LIFE BALANCE TO BE IN BALANCE OR OUT OF BALANCE ?

OPTIMAL WORK – LIFE BALANCE ZONE

Boredom Apathy Lethargy

Mistakes Poor Judgment Bad Decisions

Females tend to find it more difficult than males to strike the ideal balance because of the

motherhood mandate which NATURE & CULTURE impose on the female parent.

In a traditional society, characterised by male domination, Men are more prone to many attractions & distractions; such as clubs, cinemas, parties, horse races, stock market operations and so on.

The women, generally speaking, keep themselves away from these preoccupations. Hence, there is more time, more concentration and more commitment, for the women, whether it is home or office.

Does not this make a big difference ?

Men demonstrate a general preference for enjoying the leisure, may even prefer to be lazy, hesitating to lend a helping hand in the household work. However, women are generally more busy with household work, first to getup and last to go to bed; willingly accepting the thousand-fold duties of the home; a restlessness with pending work, resulting in being continuously busy with some work or the other, without being tired.

Women, in general, work more and generally do not complain of being tired; keeps them, relatively more healthy, develops patience, betters their Immunity levels, may be, makes them more successful managers and so on.

General characteristics of women include, amongst many other positive things, love and affection, compassion, kindness, concern, willingness to care and share, while men generally score lower on these counts. Men generally are prone to certain addictions, and have a tendency to diffuse their attention and get distracted a little more easily.

Women generally demonstrate a pleasantness, ability to tackle things in a diplomatic manner, willingness to listen, more organized and disciplined, considerate to the views of others, greater commitment and perseverance to succeed.

YOU HAVE GOT TO WORK HARD TO FIND A LIFE. WHEN YOU FIND IT, YOU CAN THINK OF HOW TO JUGGLE & BALANCE BOTH.

Know Yourself Write a mission statement for yourself by considering the following questions: What is most important in my life?  What do I want to be in my life?  What will I need to do to become that?  How do I want to be remembered by my family? 

1. Set aside time to reflect on your life, dreams, and goals. 2. Determine your areas of strength. 3. Identify what you enjoy doing. 4. Set some short-term (one day, one week, one month) and long-term (2+ years) goals. 5. Schedule time to accomplish your goals. 6. Recognize and deal with stress

Work-Life Balance Decisions • • • • • • • •

Honestly assess How much Balance You Want Choose a Talented, Supportive Companion (Spouse) Clearly Communicate Career Expectations Manage Work Expectations (set boundaries) Refresh Yourself Regularly (take vacations) Include your Spouse in Every Major Career Decision Recognize there will be Tradeoffs Review and Reassess regularly – Be reasonable and responsive to the changing situations.

Your best individual work-life balance will vary over time, often on a daily basis. The right balance for you today will probably be different for you tomorrow. The right balance for you when you are single will be different when you marry, or if you have children; when you start a new career / promotion ~ versus when you are nearing retirement.

There is no perfect, one-size fits all, balance you should be striving for. The best work-life balance is different for each of us because we all have different priorities and different lives.
